Frequency domain measurements of melt pool recoil force using modal analysis

چکیده
Abstract Recoil pressure is a critical factor affecting the melt pool dynamics during Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) processes. depresses pool. When recoil low, thermal conduction and capillary forces may be inadequate to provide proper fusion between layers. However, excessive can produce keyhole inside pool, which associated with gas porosity. Direct measurements are challenging because it localized over an area proportionate laser spot size producing force in mN range. This paper reports vibration-based approach quantify exerted on part commercial LPBF machine. The measured consistent estimates from high speed synchrotron imaging of entrained particles, results show that scales applied power inversely related scan speed. These facilitate further studies have potential aid process development for new materials.

Output-only Modal Analysis of a Beam Via Frequency Domain Decomposition Method Using Noisy Data
The output data from a structure is the building block for output-only modal analysis. The structure response in the output data, however, is usually contaminated with noise. Naturally, the success of output-only methods in determining the modal parameters of a structure depends on noise level. In this paper, the possibility and accuracy of identifying the modal parameters of a simply supported...
متن کاملFrequency Domain Techniques for Operational Modal Analysis
Operational Modal Analysis, also known as Output Only Modal Analysis, has in the recent years, been used for determination of modal parameters of civil engineering structures and is now becoming widely used also for mechanical structures. The advantage of the method is that no artificial excitation needs to be applied to the structure, or force signals to be measured. In this paper, the non-par...
متن کاملFrequency-domain force measurements for discrete event contact recognition
Discrete event recognition based on force measurements in the frequency-domain is presented. The force signals arise from interaction between the workpiece and the environment in a planar assembly task. The discrete events are modeled as Hidden Markov Models (HMMs), where the models are trained oo-line with the Baum-Welch re-estimation algorithm. After the HMMs have been trained, we use them on...
متن کاملModal Analysis Using Time-Frequency Transform
Traditional modal analysis methods use either time domain or frequency domain approaches. Because vibration signals are generally non-stationary, time and frequency information is needed simultaneously in many cases. This paper presents an overview of the applications of joint time-frequency methods for modal analysis. Since a joint time-frequency analysis can decouple vibration modes, it has a...
متن کاملA comparison between modal damping ratios identified by NExT-ERA and frequency domain impact test
In this research, the modal parameters of a beam in free-free condition are extracted by performing different experiments in laboratory. For this purpose, two different techniques are employed. The first methodology is considered as a time domain method in Operational Modal Analysis. While the other one is frequency domain impact hammer test which is categorized as an Experimental Modal Analysi...
